Handwoven by a Bora Native artisan from the Ampiyacu region of the Peruvian Amazon, this distinctive fan is made from natural rainforest fibers and combines beauty, tradition, and practical use. It is woven primarily from the pale leaf of the bonbonaje plant, accented with darker cinamillo leaf, with a rim formed from the aerial root of the tamshi vine and a handle wrapped in chambira palm fiber partially dyed with sisa vine leaf and double-dyed with river mud to deepen its maroon color.
Measuring approximately 8 inches across and 12.5 inches tall, the fan includes a looped handle that makes it easy to hold or hang for everyday use or display. Available in three woven pattern variations, each fan is handmade and may show slight differences that reflect the individuality of the artisan’s work.
Each piece comes with a tag listing the name and home of the artisan who made it and the plants used to create it. Because every piece is made by hand, slight variations in design make each one unique.
