Unique antique sterling silver shield watch fob with lovely cut out detailing. It is   hallmarked for Birmingham 1894 and has the makers mark G.M & S.

The watch fob has a blank cartouche on the front and a blank back which is unusual in watch fobs of this era. It would look great on either a silver or gold chain or a pearl multiway necklace from my Chains and Pearls collection to create a unique and special necklace.

A fob is an adornment or a seal that hung from the ribbon or chain of a Gentleman's pocket watch. Its purpose was to decorate or add weight to the watch chain. Watch fob pendants were often given as prizes or to commemorate a special occasion or event.

 The watch fob measures 4cm x 3cm inclusive of the ring. 

This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This watch fob is in great antique condition.
