⚠️ ALL hydraulic lifters — regardless of brand — must be checked for correct preload during installation.
Excessive preload can cause:

• Valve train noise (especially cold)
• Reduced lifter life and premature failure
• Valve float or loss of power at high RPM
• Potential valve burning due to incomplete valve closure

Hydraulic lifters rely on oil pressure to maintain zero lash and compensate for heat-related expansion. Excessive preload forces the internal plunger too deep, effectively turning the lifter into a solid unit and eliminating its self-adjusting function. This can result in catastrophic engine damage under load.
