My fascination began decades ago on a California beach, watching hundreds of pelicans working the water together in a breathtaking feeding frenzy. That sense of wonder has stayed with me ever since. This timepiece captures the spirit of those moments and is a reminder to stay curious, connected, and in love with the natural world.

Dial Composition

To bring the pelican’s strength and grace to life, this dial is composed of 14 pieces of shell, each one carefully inlaid into an ocean-green abalone background. The rock glows in soft pink heart abalone, while the beak, wings, chest, and head are crafted from tinted abalone in complementary tones. The neck shimmers in Mother of Pearl, and the reeds and feet gleam with anodized aluminum, adding a cool metallic contrast. Together, these elements capture the quiet beauty of the shoreline and the enduring spirit of this remarkable bird.
